April Volunteer Opportunities

JRA's "Knock, Drop and Go" Policy

  • Before you get out of the car, please disinfect your hands with hand sanitizer.
  • When dropping off food to JRA recipients please ring the doorbell and knock LOUDLY.
  • Leave the box next to the door and return to your car. We are asking each volunteer to practice social distancing.  
  • Wait a moment to confirm if the recipient received the box.
  • If the recipient doesn’t answer the door, please call the number listed next to their name. To block your phone number, dial *67 followed by the number.​
  • Let the recipient on the phone know that their box has been delivered. Please leave a message if necessary.

JRA volunteer opportunities are limited to delivering only at this time. If you reserve a route and find you cannot deliver, please contact volunteering@jewishrelief.org ASAP.

Safety Protocol Regarding Pick-Up and Deliveries

Route Pick-Up Delivery Dates and Times:

JRA's clients depend on volunteers to deliver food to their homes. JRA has initiated safety protocols and procedures surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic and has implemented a drive-thru model called Express Pick-Up for all deliveries and a Knock, Drop and Go policy at recipient homes. If you are interested in delivering, please contact us at volunteering@jewishrelief.org. We understand that situations change, and kindly request that if you are no longer able to deliver your assigned route, that you contact us ASAP so we can reassign it to another interested volunteer.


If you have any symptoms or believe you have come into contact with COVID-19, please do not volunteer to deliver.

If you have a route reserved, please follow these instructions: 

  • When you arrive at the JRA warehouse, please remain in your car.
  • A JRA staff member will check you in when you enter the driveway.
  • You will receive your delivery route information and follow directions to your designated loading area.
  • JRA staff will load boxes into your car, after which, you will follow the signs to exit. 
  • We have also implemented a "KNOCK, DROP and GO" policy at all client homes to limit contact. 

In response to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, we have implemented a number of measures to reduce the risk to both our recipients and our volunteers. We are continuing to monitor the spread of Coronavirus and are actively seeking the support and guidance of experts in public health, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Department of Public Health in the City of Philadelphia. As this situation is constantly changing, we will regularly update this site with the status of our volunteer opportunities. 


Important Protocol: If you have any symptoms including fever, cough or shortness of breath, are feeling unwell, or if you have been exposed to someone with symptoms, please do NOT volunteer at this time. We encourage everyone to follow the guidelines from the CDC website. When volunteers enter the JRA warehouse, they will be asked to wash hands, practice social distancing and participate in a short orientation. ​Children under 18 are not permitted in the warehouse without a guardian.
