Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our volunteer opportunities have been modified.
The Friendly Phone Calls initiative pairs a JRA client with a volunteer for a weekly phone call. During this time of extreme isolation, this program will help to continue building strong community relationships and will continue even after stay-at-home orders and social distancing guidelines are lifted.
Yellow Capper Program
JRA’s Junior Yellow Capper program gives students in grades 8-12 the opportunity to join JRA’s Yellow Cappers. This junior leadership team will assist at JRA monthly distributions and other JRA events!

Friendly Phone Calls Program
Junior Yellow Capper Program
During this unprecedented time of extreme social isolation, bring the sunshine into our recipient's homes through art! It can be simple, it can be complex, it can be crayons, markers, paint, stickers, whatever you have at home! Mail your completed masterpiece to JRA and we will be sure to get it in the hands of our recipients.
Collections and Drives
Host a collection/drive with your synagogue, church, or organization. JRA can accept the following full-sized, unopened, and not expired items: kosher canned tuna, toilet paper, paper towels, square tissues boxes, laundry detergent, toothpaste, tooth brushes, diapers, and adult incontinence supplies.
B'nai Mitzvah Program
JRA's work is fueled by volunteers of many ages and backgrounds - from students to seniors, Jews and non-Jews - all united by a common commitment to help those in need to strengthen community. Through community service, JRA nourishes body and soul.
Yellow Cappers are JRA ambassadors both within the warehouse and in the community. These long-time volunteers hold crucial jobs in the warehouse during monthly Food Distributions and have committed to attending at least 8 Distributions a year. You can identify them by their yellow shirts and caps!
Monthly, volunteers deliver boxes of nutritious kosher food to low-income individuals and families in Greater Philadelphia. Volunteers pick up the boxes, along with select additional items, from our warehouse in Northeast Philadelphia and follow a "route packet" of directions to recipient homes. The modified schedule for deliveries and important safety information can be found on the Food Distributions page.
Monthly Food Distributions - Delivery
Looking for another art project while at home. This is a great way for individuals all ages to celebrate JRA recipients with a very simple act - sending a birthday card to let them know we are thinking of them. You can decorate a few cards or we can assign you a whole birthday month (about 400 cards).
