Junior Yellow Capper Program
JRA's work is fueled by volunteers of many ages and backgrounds - from students to seniors, Jews and non-Jews - all united by a common commitment to help those in need to strengthen community. Through community service, JRA nourishes body and soul.

B'nai Mitzvah Program
JRA’s Junior Yellow Capper program gives students in grades 8-12 the opportunity to join JRA’s Yellow Cappers. This junior leadership team will assist at JRA monthly distributions and other JRA events!
Once a month, volunteers gather at our warehouse in Northeast Philadelphia to pack boxes of nutritious kosher food and deliver them to low-income individuals and families. On Fridays, before the monthly Distribution, volunteers will pack kid friendly food bags for 540 low-income youth, pack toiletry bags, and boxes of food.
Volunteering at JRA
Children ages 6 and younger can volunteer with their families from 8:30 am - 9:30 am on Food Distribution Sundays. Children place their box on a cart which they push down the assembly line to pack food for JRA recipients. This is a great way to start a conversation around community involvement, helping others, and social justice.
Monthly Food Distributions
All types of organizations are welcome at JRA. Synagogues and churches, schools, office teams, and various organizations of all sizes volunteer at JRA. Sign your group up for an upcoming Food Distribution or contact us for other ways to get involved.
Host a collection/drive with your synagogue, church, or organization. JRA can accept the following full-sized, unopened, and not expired items: kosher canned tuna, toilet paper, paper towels, square tissues boxes, laundry detergent, toothpaste, tooth brushes, diapers, and adult incontinence supplies.
Once a month, volunteers gather at our warehouse in Northeast Philadelphia to pack boxes of nutritious kosher food and deliver them to low-income individuals and families. Volunteers will pack 3,200 boxes of food, including fresh produce, for families in need. In addition to the standard food box, volunteers also pack family friendly food bags and toiletries for some of our recipients.
This is a great way for individuals and groups of all ages to celebrate JRA recipients with a very simple act - sending a birthday card to let them know we are thinking of them. You can decorate a few cards or we can assign you a whole birthday month (about 400 cards).
