JRA is seeking a full-time Program Assistant to provide day-to-day administrative support for multiple programs and office activities at our office in Bala Cynwyd, PA, and at our distribution warehouse in Northeast Philadelphia.
Answer phones and field inquiries from callers
Greet visitors, process mail, respond to requests for information by clients, visitors, volunteers, and staff
Assemble and input data, manage lists and databases related to agency programs including clients, volunteers and donors
Support the Client Services Director by making follow-up phone calls to clients, sending and processing intake forms, scanning documents, updating client information and handling referrals to partner agencies, volunteers and service providers
Coordinate meeting schedules and logistics for professional staff and board meetings as needed
Other duties as required
Warehouse and Distribution Responsibilities:
Work with the JRA staff and volunteers to coordinate and implement monthly food distributions
Staff monthly distributions, including distribution set-up and volunteer check in
Assist volunteers, answer phones and enter volunteer data into databases
Help staff deliver food packages when needed
Respond to requests for information by volunteers and clients
Knowledge of the Philadelphia community and Jewish traditions are helpful but not required. We find strength in and celebrate diversity, and are an equal opportunity employer
2 or 4 year college degree helpful but not required
1 to 3 years of experience as an administrative assistant or office manager
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and experience with databases
Must have a car and a valid driver’s license
Must be able to lift 25 pounds
Must be able to work full time, including flexible hours, distribution Sundays and some evenings, as needed

Each month we bring together approximately 700 to 1,000+ volunteers at our warehouse to pack and then deliver boxes of nourishing food to 3,200+ households, comprising 6,000+ recipients. In addition to enabling our core food program, our network of 10,000+ volunteers also help with “service gigs,” such as driving seniors to doctors’ appointments and the grocery store, making small but needed home repairs, and building connections with our clients through friendly visits. We deliver our services to recipients and welcome volunteers from all backgrounds.
