Volunteer Packing Shifts - Sunday, August 30

Rosh Hashanah September Route Deliveries

Monthly, volunteers will deliver boxes of nutritious kosher food to low-income individuals and families in Greater Philadelphia. Volunteers pick up the boxes, along with select additional items, from our warehouse in Northeast Philadelphia and follow a "route packet" of directions to recipient homes. The modified schedule for deliveries and important safety information can be found below.

Important Protocol: If you have any symptoms, including fever, cough or shortness of breath, or are feeling unwell, or if you have been exposed to someone with symptoms, please do NOT volunteer at this time. We encourage everyone to follow the guidelines from the CDC website and follow JRA's safety protocol as outline below.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Food Distributions will follow a week-long schedule until further notice.

September 9 - September 13, 2020

October 14 - October 18, 2020

November 11 - November 15, 2020

December 9 - December 13, 2020

JRA's clients depend on volunteers to deliver food to their homes. JRA has initiated safety protocols and procedures surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic and has implemented a drive-thru model called Express Pick-Up for all deliveries and a Knock, Drop and Go policy at recipient homes. If you are interested in delivering, please contact us at volunteering@jewishrelief.org. We understand that situations change, and kindly request that if you are no longer able to deliver your assigned route, that you contact us ASAP so we can reassign it to another interested volunteer.

If you have any symptoms or believe you have come into contact with COVID-19, please do not volunteer to deliver.

Protect Everyone

  • All volunteers and staff must wear a face mask.
  • All volunteers and staff must wash hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. If a hand washing station is unavailable, wear gloves or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol prior to touching the JRA boxes.
  • Maintain social distancing of at least 6-10 feet apart.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands. Do not cough into your hands. If a tissue is not available, be sure to cough only into your elbow.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Pick-Up Instructions

  • Delivery routes are confirmed ONLY if you received an email confirmation from a JRA staff member. If you filled out the interest form, but did not receive a confirmation email, you have been added to a list to be called upon if additional volunteers are needed. Thank you for commitment to JRA.
  • Before arriving to the JRA warehouse, please put on your required face mask. If you do not have one, we can supply you with one when you arrive.
  • When you pull into the driveway, remain in your car. Please stop at the tent to receive your delivery route paperwork and safety information.
  • After you receive your paperwork, you will be directed into a specific traffic lane where a JRA staff member will load your boxes, bags and any additional items into your car.
  • Once your car is loaded, you will follow the instructions to exit.
